Here is an amazing picture of Jay Cutler getting owned. Reply with a comment of what the ref Ed Hockuley is thinking as this is going down. As you can see, the reaction is priceless!

Going for the kill

Like the title says, it’s ours to give away. The NL west has gone from a sure Dodger clinching to what seems to be a race till the end of the season. The Rockies smell the NL west lead and not letting off the gas pedal. The Dodgers however, have bottomed out in a way. They responded when Manny was suspended and a bit when he came back. Since then, the Dodgers have played very average baseball and with the Rockies playing elite baseball, they are within legitimate reach of their first NL west division championship.

The key to the Rockies coming close will be playing above average against the other west teams. They have shown they can beat other teams outside the division, but have yet to show they can beat the west, mostly the Dodgers. I see that changing very soon. With a huge week and a half of NL west games against the Giants and Dodgers at Coors Field, it will be interesting and exciting to see what the Rockies can do. Watching competitive baseball in August is almost a dream come true after watching how the season started.

If the Rockies pull of the comeback of the season to win the NL west, it will be their first ever NL West title and give them great position when playoff time comes. Not to get to ahead of myself, the team seems to be on some sort of mission to prove all wrong. Do you blame them? They have been counted out since June 1st. Shutting up all the national bias no-it-all’s is sweet sweet victory and with the bitter taste of betting swept in the 2007 World Series, they have many to prove that it was just not a fluke. I was first to call the 07 team a fluke especially after last year’s performance. This team is by far the greatest in team history. Enjoy it now Rockies fans, go to the games, fill the place up and help support this team. It’s not like we will see this type of competitiveness with the Broncos this year…

On our own

If you listen to sports talk radio especially a nationally syndicated show, you would think the L.A. Dodgers were up 20 games in the NL West. No joke. No sports radio network more than Fox Sports Radio. This makes me red in the face. When these clowns do decide to act like they know what they’re talking about they talk Dodgers and Giants like they are the only two teams in the west. The biggest question I have is, what did the Rockies do to deserve this kind of disrespect?

The Rockies are the best team in the League since June. Is it because we started about 2 months too late? As of right now, the Rockies are a game and a half up on the Giants and only five behind the Dodgers. There is no reason why anyone should count the Rockies out! That’s the biggest thing that gets me. All we have done is win and win the right way. I’ve read a couple articles, seen a couple stories on ESPN about this year’s team but that’s about it.

No one gives us a chance, no one but you and me care. That’s okay with me because when its October and we’re back in the World Series, we will make the country recognize us.

Sign Vick now!

I know what you are thinking… Michael Vick a Denver Bronco? I don’t think so. I say, why not? Why not bring in a guy who could be a third quarterback or coached to play another position. Here are my reasons why the Broncos should sign Mike Vick.

1) In running situations, Vick could be put in with one of many talented backs on the Broncos roster. The options that open up for the Broncos would be endless with Vick. QB draws, perhaps an option type play, or Vick could even fake the run and pass. He gives the Broncos another weapon to make up for the inability to run with the two other quarterbacks.

2) He has something to prove. With signing Vick, you don’t have to worry about whether he will work hard or not. We all know he has much to prove and like any other player in the NFL, he is a competitor. He is only 29 years old and with some coaching and conditioning, Vick could be just as good with Denver as he was with Atlanta.

3) He deserves a second chance. What he did was bad, but he paid his dues and deserves to play for the NFL again. Even after 2 years in jail, he will still have to sit out the first 6 games of the season but by then he should be ready to get on the field again. Commissioner Godell even said if he were an owner of a NFL team he would sign Vick.

The Broncos would most likely have to deal with the idiots of PETA for a little bit but winning will get rid of any distraction there may be. He has already been doing things with the humane society and showing that he cares. Now’s the time to give him that second chance, but if it doesn’t work out, you could always just cut him…

J.R. Smith and Twitter

As some of you are aware, J.R. Smith cancelled his Twitter account after many speculated that because he changed his “c’s” to “k’s,” he was somehow related to the Bloods. I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty disappointed that it resorted to this. One of the great things about the social networking and Twitter is that it gets us closer to people such as our favorite athletes or celebrities. My favorite thing about Twitter was seeing what the Denver athletes are up to. It gives us a closer sense of who they are. It was cool to see what J.R. was up to when he wasn’t draining 3’s at Pepsi Center.

Now, because of idiot reports at the local newspaper and idiot readers who misuse their right to leave comments on articles forced J.R. to just shut his account down. It makes me pretty angry that J.R. felt the need or had pressure to shut his account down because of some idiot people who are obviously wound way to tight. J.R. is a professional athlete and even though J.R. never went to College and has shown immaturity with other things such as his 100 page driving record. J.R. is not stupid. No person with half a brain would affiliate themselves with such a gang and make it public by simply changing c’s to k’s as he tweets his thoughts. One of the biggest things that makes my blood boil was people such as sports writers and bloggers saying he throws up gang signs after hitting 3’s! Are you kidding me? Have you watched J.R. play at all during his career?!? Any time he hits a 3 or a big 3, he throws up three fingers on each hand signifying he’s hot and making it rain from the outside. Is it because he’s got a body full of tat’s? Is it because he’s black? Either way, it’s unfair to J.R. and it’s unfair to the thousands of followers that enjoyed and wanted to get a more personal connection with a local professional athlete. J.R, just ignore the haters, let people know you’re not part of any gangs and come back to Twitter.

Avs and Broncos

Okay, so im a little late on this post. I am very busy with a move from Colorado Springs to south Denver so I have been packing and working. Anyways, here are a few things on the two remaining big teams in Denver.

Colorado Avalanche:

I’m gunna have to be honest on this one. I have no idea what to expect from the Avs this season. They are in complete rebuilding mode. They have lost their franchise Captain Joe Sakic and basically starting from the ground up. I maybe watched two full hockey games last season and since I am now doing a blog dedicated to Colorado Sports, I will be watching much more Avalanche Hockey and will get back into the whole hockey thing. I think anything better than last in the West will be a good season for the Avalanche this year. Aim high!

Denver Broncos:

Last but not least, the biggest team in Colorado. The Broncos are much like the Avalanche. Losing their captain and hiring a new coach. It will be interesting to see what will be different. Everyone including the dead in Colorado knows the Broncos need to focus on defense. They had no problem scoring points last season; it was stopping the other team from doing the same. Will we see a team that can’t score or stop this season? I really can’t tell you. All I know is we will probably see Josh McDaniels wearing a freakin’ hoodie on the sidelines, acting like the little weasel from New England that taught him. Will he end up like others that came from New England like Charlie Weis now trying to coach Notre Dame or Eric Mangini who was recently fired from the Jets. All I know is Bronco fans are going to have short patients with Josh due to the offseason so far. Broncos will go 5-11 this season and to Bronco fans, that will be progress.

There will be more on all the teams here in Denver including a Colorado Buffs preview later this month. I do Colorado only because that is who I follow. I will find good area CSU and Air Force football blogs and give you a link.

Back to it...

Well, it has almost been a full month since my last post saying I was expanding. Yes, the expansion is still in progress but at a standstill until I can get the money for hosting and all that fun stuff that goes into starting a website. I figured I might as well put something up since it has been so long. First things first…

Colorado Rockies:
Note to Dan O’dowd; yes that deal you made with Oakland in the Matt Holliday trade was amazing. The trade to acquire Jason Marquis was amazing. The fact you did not do a thing with Garret Atkins is unbelievable. How could you not at least get some prospects for him? Now, he will finish this year coming off the bench and making the occasional start collecting the rest of this 7 million he signed for this season. The Rockies will not re-sign Garret therefore letting him go for absolutely nothing. Will Garret Atkins help us in the stretch run as we fight with the Giants for the Wild Card, no most likely not. He hasn’t really done anything at all this season; I really don’t see any change in that. Ian Stewart is our starting third basemen. Todd Helton’s health is perfectly fine and if the reason to keep Atkins was for that exact purpose, giving Todd a break one every 2 weeks, then that is a one of the worst decisions O’dowd has ever made. Seth Smith can play first base if needed. We can call up a minimum paid triple-a player to play once every 2 weeks. I don’t see the need for Garret Atkins on this team anymore and just wished we could have gotten at least something for him.
After a pathetic showing in New York giving up our 2 game lead in the Wild Card, we find ourselves currently tied with the Giants in the standings. I’ve said before, it’s all about winning series. We won the series against the Giants then laid an egg against the Mets. This can’t happen when you are in what looks to be a season long race for that final playoff spot in the NL. If the Rockies stay focused on winning series and not on the Giants, they will find themselves atop the Wild Card standings when the season is over.

Denver Nuggets:
After trading for the big young backup point guard Ty Lawson. The Nuggets have done nothing to make them self any better for this upcoming season. They have actually lost ground against other teams in the west. The Spurs, Lakers, Mavs have added big named help as the Nuggets have done nothing but resign Birdman and let Dehantay Jones go to Indy. Currently I am not very optimistic about the upcoming season. Chauncey Billups can only do so much but when teams like the Lakers add Ron Artest, I almost just want to give the Lakers next year’s Championship. But we don’t and that’s why we play the season and playoffs because anything can happen. Maybe the Nuggets know they can beat the Lakers, even if they did add big names. Who knows, but as it stands now… The Nuggets are in a bit of trouble in the West.

I will post tomorrow about the Broncos and Avalanche. I just wanted to get some stuff out there since it has been so long since my last relevant post. Enjoy! Comment!
